What is Resin?

Epoxy resins have a wide use in industry due to their extensive variations. The first commercial attempts of creating resins started back in 1927 but it wasn't until 1936 that the technique of producing a reaction between epichlorohydrin and bisphenol-A - which is the formula most currently used today, was discovered. Their uses are extensive and include coatings, adhesives and composite materials such as those using carbon fiber and fiberglass reinforcements.

The specific composition of the epoxy resin our products are made from make them:

  • Extremely hard-wearing
  • Heat resistant
  • Chemical resistant

The process of moulding the resin to our patterns is a long and tedious one, taking on average 48 hours from mixing it to setting. Once the resin has set, each item is hand carved and bound by hand before being polished and ready to be sold.
